Resurrecting a Legend: Discovering the Hidden Gem of the Hurst/Olds Classic

Oldsmobile is famous within the automotive community for producing some of the world’s coolest classic cars from the late 1960s to early 1970s. Models such as the Cutlass and 442 will be forever remembered as legends of their time, especially when equipped with some of the best performance options available at the time. Most vintage car enthusiasts can go on for hours about the different power options and performance builders of the era, but one whose popularity will reign on for centuries to come is Hurst. So it’s pretty amazing to find a car that combines the best of both worlds, but that’s precisely what this automotive adventurer has just done.

Hurst/Olds Classic Found Abandoned In Disheveled Garage

After decades of decaying alone in the confines of a damp garage, this 1968 Oldsmobile Olds/Hurst is an all-original piece of muscle car art. Of course, the body is not entirely perfect as the vehicle features a lot of rust throughout. The damage is so bad that the rear of this classic car is almost completely caved in as a result of a rear collision which nearly ended the car’s life of driving. Thankfully, the car was saved from the scrapyard by the owner and was stored for many years in a less than optimal facility. Nowadays, the vehicle is ready to hit the open road once again with some brand new equipment under the hood.

Finally, the original powerhouse will be brought back to life in a spectacular show of engineering skill and restoration prowess. The car was sold a couple of years ago, and the build should be wrapping up very soon, assuming that no complications have arisen. The stock powerhouse will be completely refurbished along with the transmission and rear end. This will be an insane car when it’s all finished up. Currently, we have a few photos of how the project has been going, and it is a very detail-intensive process, including a ton of original parts that have been brought back to their factory condition. We can’t wait to see what this car will look like, and we’re sure it’s going to be amazing.
