This 50-year-old Toyota Celica Barn Was Completely Restored But Had Engine Problems

1972 Toyota Celica

Stephan has added many new components to make the Celica making it more roadworthy. A set of bigger 15-inch wheels, adjustable suspension, fresh-new Wilwood rotors for the front, and drums for the rear were installed. In addition, the Celica came fitted with wider fenders, an aftermarket front splitter, and a trunk spoiler. So, for a regular Celica, this iteration looks more muscular. After the vigorous cleaning sessions, this 50-year-old Celica showed paint blemishes and rust, which is not that unusual considering how cheap it was brand new.

There is an Abarth steering wheel with a MOMO horn button, and the seats are aftermarket fiberglass TRD sports seats. Stephan believes the dial instrumentation is from the JDM version of the Celica. In addition, the previous owner also had a full-on stereo system, which Stephan will likely rip out, as he wants to “enjoy the sounds of the carburetors.” The video concludes with a flyby of the reconditioned Celica, which appears to have a deserving owner who will look after the vehicle for at least another 20 years
