When it comes to discussions about over the top Muscle Cars, there is no double the Plymouth Superbird and its brother the Dodge Daytona are always at the top of the list.

When racing on Sunday and selling on Monday really meant something, the boys at Chrysler decided to pull out all the stops. First with the aero styled Charger 500, then the wild winged Dodge Daytona, and following that up with the wildest of them all, the Plymouth Superbird.

Richard Petty did a brief stint behind the wheel of a Ford, and Chrysler quite simply could not stand for that. Proving the viability of the pointy nose and the much needed for stabilization towering rear wing, they would smash records. Of course, this drew major attention and more importantly, Richard Petty was back. This Limelight Superbird takes things even further. Under the hood is the famed 426 Hemi engine. Just 70 Hemi Superbirds were built, making this one of the rarest and most sought after muscle cars ever built.

The owner of this car produced it in the early 1970s. As is often the case, it sat for many years waiting for the right time to bring it back to its former glory. Years were spent gathering parts and researching and finally in 2013, a full restoration was commissioned. Restored to as-delivered condition utilizing many new old stock parts, it has emerged as one of the finest examples of Plymouth’s most outrageous offerings.
