Dennis Collins’ Restoration Journey with a 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500

In a new YouTube video, Dennis Collins skips his usual classic car rescue adventure to give viewers updates on numerous vehicles he has acquired.

The presentation provides a behind-the-scenes view of what happens after the retrieved cars get trailered away.

Mustang fans will drool over a trio of Ford pony cars, including a pair of iconic Shelby GT500s, and in the meantime, truck lovers will appreciate a duo of square-body General Motors pickups – there’s also a rejuvenated Porsche 911 to ogle over, too.

Collins also clues the curious into the fact that much of the vehicle restoration work gets done at a hidden location separate from his well-known operations in Wylie, TX – it’s perhaps a way of preventing inquisitive fans from interfering with the process.

Drool-Worthy Classic Ford Mustang Projects Coming Back To Life

Arguably, the most significant vehicles in the video are a trio of treasured Mustangs from the 1960s.

Collins highlights a lime green 1967 Shelby GT500 he acquired over the summer that needed significant interior repairs – he walks viewers through how numerous NOS (new old stock) components, including an AM/8-track radio, breathed new life into the car.

We get more updates on two other Mustangs that were part of a five-car rescue also from the summer; there’s a red 1967 GT500 midway through an extensive restoration effort, and Collins walks us through a 1966 K-code Fastback undergoing light restomod treatments.

Collins’ enthusiasm for two pristine GM square-body pickups is hard to contain – one is a gleaming black 1985 GMC Sierra with 22,000 miles that looks like it just rolled off the dealer’s lot.

We learn that the previous (and original) owner protected this vehicle with more than 25 aftermarket accessories, including seat and steering wheel covers, it’s a four-wheel-drive beauty with a 305-cubic-inch V8 and a four-speed manual gearbox.

A second truck (from the same source), a red 350 V8 1987 Chevrolet Silverado pickup with 34,000 miles, is also in equally mint condition.

Both vehicles received new gas tanks and sending units, but otherwise didn’t require much work.

Viewers then get treated to more classics coming back to life, among them is a ‘70s-era Porsche 911 that needed two years of painstaking work, including a rebuilt 2.7-liter engine and transmission.

Collins proudly shows off the restored Recaro sport seats that will soon grace the car’s interior.

Finishing out the video is a sneak peek of a 1971 Dodge Challenger undergoing resurrection from bare metal – but this Mopar will get a restomod powertrain thanks to a 6.4-liter Hemi crate engine and Tremec T56 six-speed transmission
