Collins said that he receives frequent questions about the BMW M1 sports car he rescued more than two years ago. It’s a vehicle almost at the final stage of restoration; Collins reports completed work totals about 95% of what’s needed, but he stopped keeping track of the project after the effort reached 2,700 hours.
He promises “the nicest M1 in existence” once the restoration gets done, which should be sometime in 2023. Collins described the excruciating detail that the project involves, including recreating original stickers.

According to the crew, when asked about the most notable rescue from 2022, one adventure stands above the rest, a trip to Longview, Texas, that we covered in July. Collins’ epic five-car score included an ultra-rare 1967 Shelby GT500, a “holy grail” 1967 Chevrolet Corvette, and a 1966 Ford Mustang K-Code fastback.
Comments from the team talk about the effort being challenging because of the number of vehicles involved, and many weren’t ready for the trailer. Collins recalls that they also discovered numerous hard-to-resist and rare classic car parts throughout the seller’s house.
