The YouTube channel The Daily Dad heads out to the “middle of nowhere” to take a look at a gold mine of classic cars and trucks parked in an overgrown field. For junkyard or abandoned vehicle enthusiasts, this video is one you will not want to miss, particularly for classic pickup truck or military vehicle aficionados, which is the primary type of vehicle the field contains.
While there are many vehicles with a lot of potential, there are a few select ones that grab their attention. Read on to see which they choose to save.
Abandoned Classic Pickup Trucks In A Field
Along with The Old Truck Guy, Chris takes a walk through the field and the first vehicle they find is an old school bus which got turned into a trailer at some point, a creative re-imagining for the vehicle. They also find a hearse and several old GM pickup trucks in the same area.
Immediately, it becomes obvious there are vehicles on this property that have the potential to get a restoration. One such vehicle, a 1984 Chevrolet K5 Blazer, catches the attention of The Old Truck Guy and he decides to take it home with him.
The interior of the K5 Blazer is in rough shape but is mostly all there. The same is true with the exterior. It takes a mighty attempt from a skid steer to get the Blazer pulled out from its resting spot but it does eventually move.
The Blazer doesn’t roll well due to dry rotted and torn tires but they manage to get the classic SUV onto a trailer, ready to take with them when they leave. Once they load up the Blazer, they go back to look around some more to see what else the property has to offer.
Unusual And Unique Abandoned Classics
They encounter a pair of classic orange Chevrolet pickup trucks, one with a long bed and one with a short bed. Each of the trucks has some minor rust issues but nothing that makes either truck unsalvageable. The Old Truck Guy finds himself interested in at least one of the trucks and plans to speak to the owner about their interest in selling them. They describe the trucks as “diamonds in the rough” given the potential many of the vehicles in the field have.
They later take a look at a limousine parked on the property and a 1956 Chevrolet police car that was part of the US Army. While the long-retired cop car is missing part of its body, it’s still a very interesting vehicle to take a closer look at.
On the property also sits an older pickup truck that the owner uses to raise honey bees in the summertime and a classic Plymouth Concord. There are other older trucks that interest them, but mention that the owner is hesitant to sell trucks from the 1940s era
