Coming across abandoned and neglected muscle cars anywhere is a sad sight. Particularly if there is a group of them in one location. That is what YouTuber Auto Archaeology found recently in a yard in South East Tennessee that included Chevrolet muscle cars. The YouTuber found these cars in the summer of 2022, full of all manner of interesting bikes, cars, trucks and more. Many of them were in a pretty bad state, looking much like they were beyond salvation. But the good news is some of them are now up for sale.
In particular, it is the collection of Chevrolet Camaros and Impalas that the owner is putting up for sale. The owner of the yard was a former Honda mechanic and he collected all manner of parts and bikes for decades. This ended up esulting in the collection we see in this video. Over the years, plenty of Chevrolet muscle cars have found their way into the yard alongside the bikes and the other spare parts. So, if you fancied a project car and a chance to save one of these classics, then now is the perfect time.
These Chevrolet Impalas And Camaros Could Be The Perfect Project Cars For You
The video posted by Auto Archaeology shows off some of the Impalas and Camaros that are now for sale at the yard. The video starts by showing four Camaros, including a 1969 SS, and as we have alluded too in the title these cars are very much abandoned. Far from being fllu secluded barn finds, these are very neglected and left to rot in this yard and some of them have really seen better days. One of them appears to have the roof from another vehicle entirely placed on top of it.
A front end of one of the Camaros signifies the bad condition they are in. The opening shots show an orange Camaro on the left, and next to the one on the right is an abandoned front-end of that orange one. That leads us to wonder what the state of the orange Camaro is. We get a look inside one of them, and the interior is incredibly gutted. A tire and more sit inside the cabin while the front-end of that particular Camaro is pretty much non-existent. One side of it has gone completely, indicating how long these cars have sat here.
This Video Highlights How Rough These Chevrolet Classics Are
One of the Camaros does at least have a lot of its original interior left. But there is so much junk around it and it looks very sorry for itself. We haven’t even looked at the Impala in this video yet, but when we do, we see the condition it is in. Amazingly though, the Impala we see is in better condition than the Camaros. The first one the video reveals is an SS big block Impala, with side pipes and dual antennas at the back.
It is an automatic Impala SS, and it is in much better condition than some of the Camaros that we saw earlier in the video. If you want to get your hands on this 1964 Impala though, well you are sadly out of luck. Towards the end of the video, Auto Archaeology explains that everything we see is for sale…except for the Impala. Yes, that’s right, the owner is keeping the Impala for his own collection. What that means for the future of that car though is unclear, as it could easily just sit there for many more years rusting away.
The Really Rough Camaros Are Beyond Saving
We do get a good look at the Impala but it is the Camaros that are the biggest focus here. Images towards the end of the video show us even more clearly how bad the Camaros were. Auto Archaeology acknowledges this, with some of them having junk on their roofs, while the front-ends of some have all but disappeared. The YouTuber goes on to say that they are at least complete enough that something could get done to save them in some capacity. But they do need a lot of work.
This Collection Shows You Why You Should Not Hoard Muscle Cars
The collection of Camaros shows us why hoarding muscle cars like this perhaps isn’t a great idea. These are classic cars that deserve love and attention, and even if some were already rough when bought, they could have served a purpose. Spares donors of course are incredibly useful for many people. Perhaps that should have happened with a few of these Camaros. And the Impala is in good enough condition that it could have a full restoration in its own right. That will probably be the hope for many people who have watched this video.
