Shelby Cobra Daytona Takes to the Track at Spa-Francorchamps

Built in only six units, the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe is a rare sight. Especially in Europe, where only one of them, chassis number CSX2300, is said to be kept.

Raced by Jo Schlesser and Andre Simon at the Nurburgring back in its glory days, the Cobra Daytona you’re about to see below was originally painted white with blue and red stripes. After competing in the national “Tri-Colore” of France, the vehicle was repainted in the famed Guardsman Blue by UK’s Alan Mann Racing.What’s more, this exact version was owned by Carroll Shelby himself until 2000, when it was auctioned off for no less than $4.4 million, probably an American record at the time.
