Teenage Driver Takes 1969 Camaro Twin-Turbo for an 8-Second Quarter-Mile Run – Video Included

Meet Alex Taylor, an 18-year-old girl who has been pursuing her high-octane dream and can now take pride in having pulled an 8-second quarter mile pass at the Rocky Mountain Race Week.

Alex Taylor and her 1969 Camaro

Alex is obviously the youngest competitor at the event and her weapon is a 1969 Camaro. Sure, the classic muscle car required a set of extremely serious mods to reach such a level of performance and we have to explain the main trick here is a pair of turbos. You can see the girl and her car at work in the clip below. One of the best bits here is that she always enjoys driving the built Camaro on the road, in a setup that might just see plenty of guys searching for a (piston) ring. Oh and the bits where she fights the sideways launch tendencies are awesome.

Alex started racing when she was 16

Tis racer first took part in a sanctioned drag race at the age of 16, when she competed at Drag Week. We’re talking about a girl who knows her way around an engine bay. Alex knows a thing or two about mechanics, since she grew up this way.

It all started much earlier in her life, as her family is into racing, so the smell of petrol has marked her childhood. As for the feminine side of this approach, the twin-turbo monster has been dubbed “Badmaro” and receives the sort of attention we’re not used to associating with racecars.
