A CLASSIC car covered in bird poo that was discovered in a barn after years of sitting idle has sold for an eye-watering price.
The dusty old motor was expected to fetch a fairly standard £25,000-£30,000 at auction but actually went for more than twice that.

Manufactured in 1966 at the brand’s plant in St Louis, Missouri, the Chevrolet C2 Sting Ray was imported to the UK around 25 years ago.
Sadly, at some point in the past two decades, its anonymous owner had left it to rot in a barn, gathering grime.
It was described in its listing from Classic Car Auctions as a “farm find” and no history file.
The auction house was only able to determine its original based on the registration document and VIN.
The convertible is desperately in need of some TLC but is still in good shape and, according to CCA, presents a “tremendous opportunity” for a collector or restoration enthusiast.
Despite its rundown condition, the Chevy managed to go for a whopping £68,625 at the firm’s sale in Warwickshire this week.
It went under the hammer alongside a variety of other treasured classic with no reserve price.
Gary Dunne, sales manager of CCA, said: “Once in a while a collection of classic cars comes to market at No Reserve – with all this collection being restoration projects.
“It gave bidders an unrepeatable opportunity to secure a car they have been dreaming of, with the chance to save the vehicle and put their own stamp on it.”
The company added: “This Corvette C2 Stingray’s bones were still in good enough shape for it to attract bidding that took it to more than twice its estimate.
“Definitely a farm find, as evidenced by the straw and bird droppings in the images, it still presented a tremendous opportunity.
“This car deserves to be lavished with attention, and once fully prepared, it should reward such effort with an excellent outcome.”
