Ford Capri Unearthed After 40 Years in a ‘Slightly Fallen Down Garage’ – Appears as if It Was Driven Away in 1983

A VINTAGE Ford Capri that sat in a “slightly fallen down garage” for 40 years has been put up for sale.

The stunning classic is in a “bad way” but only has 30,000 miles on the clock.

The barn find has been listed on eBay with photos showing the extent of the decay.

Parts of the bodywork are rusted heavily, while others have suffered dents and dings.

The bonnet is currently detached, leaving the engine bay open and revealing more dust and dirt.

The engine also appears to be incomplete, but the listing does state that all the original parts are included.

Inside, the leather seats are ripped and covered in grime and cobwebs.

The tyres have also gone flat, while the windows are caked in a thick layer of dirt.

According to the ad, the car is a MkI Capri, meaning it was produced between 1969 and 1974.

The registration is not clearly visible in the photos but the seller added that there had only been one previous owner and that the car was last taxed in 1983.

Prospective buyers can pick it up for just £1,220, a bargain considering a similar model sold for £42,250 just a few weeks ago.

However, this may be offset by the costly repairs that are needed, with the biggest issue being that the engine has seized.

This happens when the engine overheats or runs without sufficient lubrication, resulting in the moving parts becoming frozen.

Unfortunately, it’s not just a case of adding in some more oil to lubricate these parts, with a seizure usually requiring a full replacement, which can run into the thousands.

Nonetheless, if a driver is willing to pour some money into it, the Capri likely would be able to be brought back into running order.

The auction is set to end on January 4 at 2.36pm.
