Unleashing the Beast: A Closer Look at the 350ci-Powered 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad

This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad is a two-door wagon that was manufactured at GM’s St. Louis, Missouri facility. Under previous ownership, it underwent a thorough restoration and customization process. The exterior received a fresh coat of paint in a two-tone turquoise and white scheme, while the two-tone blue interior was completely reupholstered. The vehicle now boasts a 350ci V8 engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.

Notable upgrades include a dual exhaust system, an Edelbrock carburetor, PerTronix ignition system, an aluminum radiator equipped with an electric cooling fan, front disc brakes, staggered-diameter Coys wheels, air conditioning, power windows, and a RetroSound stereo system with USB connectivity. The current owner acquired this Chevy Nomad in April 2020 and ensured it was well-maintained with an oil change and fluid inspection before listing it for sale. This Chevrolet Nomad is currently available in California and comes complete with records of its refurbishment, workshop manuals, and a clean Montana title registered under the seller’s LLC.

The body was repainted in two-tone turquoise and white and features gold anodized trim, and ribbed-aluminum tail-fin inserts as well as a sloped B-pillar, sliding rear side windows, and a hidden fuel filler incorporated into the driver-side tail-fin trim.

Coys wheels with a chrome finish measure 18″ in diameter up front and 20″ out back. Braking is provided by front discs and rear drums.

The cabin features twin bench seats trimmed in turquoise vinyl with dark blue textured inserts as well as matching door panel inserts, turquoise carpets, and blue rubber floor mats. Equipment includes a Vintage Air air-conditioning system, power windows, and a RetroSound stereo with USB input.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames a combination speedometer and gear indicator flanked by gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows under 100 miles, around 60 of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.

The 350ci V8 is fitted with an Edelbrock Thunder-series carburetor, PerTronix electronic ignition, and a KKS Motorsports aluminum radiator with a Flex-a-Lite electric cooling fan. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a GM 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission. The seller changed the engine oil and checked the fluids in November 2020.
